about

In 2005, about six months before Hurricane Katrina, I was driving down Canal Street in New Orleans. I started looking at the buildings, and for some reason, I began to wonder about how high the water must have been when Hurricane Betsy flooded the city 40 years earlier in 1965. I put it into a song, set on the night before the storm came through, imagining two normal people out driving around, eating at the local Frostop, and listening to WTIX, the "Mighty 690."
